Strategies for Craps Play

Attempting to better the casino while playing craps many a player has studied the play in depth seeking to come up with such a technique.  Nobody has yet developed a guaranteed technique for winning at Craps.  You have two key obstacles blocking any effort to devise a winning method:

  • The game has no formal structure: Players don’t know for how long the shooter will play, his/her turn can go on for one roll or can continue on for 10, 20 or even additional rolls.
  • Craps games are random: Every roll of the dice is separate from the preceding roll, unlike a game like Blackjack where players know what cards that have been discarded and will be retired waiting for the decks to be reshuffled.
  • With no winning technique offered, the best players can do is utilize a tactic to try to win in the short run (in the long run the house always wins) and enjoy her/his playing time.
  • Have reasonable expectations of what you can attain in a single outing.  Everybody would love to break the bank but it is not likely to come to pass, so be satisfied when you win on any given day.
  • Set your limits before you start playing.  For an illustration; assume you have $100 to play with, decide ahead of time to quit whenever your funds go down to say $50 or when it goes up to say $500.
  • Until such times as you have increased you bankroll, be conservative with your betting (pass line bets with odds are your best wagers because they have the lowest house edge).  Assuming you win and grow your funds then you are able to make a decision if you wish to take on a greater aggressive betting approach.
  • Understand your bets.  Find out what the wagers are, the way to make them and what the chances are of winning.  This knowledge will allow you to make different more risky bets wisely should you become bored making conservative bets.
